Employment in the telecommunications industry
An invitation to tender has been launched by the Information Society Directorate-General of the European Commission relating to two studies which would estimate employment change in the telecommunications sector. The objectives are to obtain a consistent methodological framework, to provide detailed and reliable employment figures on the EU telecommunications sector, and to provide a time series estimate and forecasts of employment in mobile telephony. The tender consists of two lots and tenderers can submit proposals either singly for each study or jointly for both. The first lot relates to the methodological framework for estimating total employment in telecom industries, and the second relates to the time series estimate and forecasts of employment in mobile telephony from 1992 to 2004.
