The European Commission has now opened the third round of calls for proposals under the specific programme for a 'User Friendly Information Society', (IST), part of the EU's Fifth RTD Framework Programme.

This February 2000 call invites proposals addressing the following parts of the work programme:

- Part 1a: proposals for RTD, demonstration, and combined RTD/demonstration projects. Proposals to these areas must be submitted before a fixed deadline of 10 May 2000.
- - Key Action I: Action Lines I.1.1 I.1.2 I.1.3 I.1.4 I.2.1 I.4.2;
- - Key Action II: Action Lines II.1.3 II.2.1 II.2.2 II.4.1;
- - Key Action III: Action Lines: III.1.2 III.1.4 III.2.1 III.2.2 III.3.1 III.3.2;
- - Key Action IV: Action Lines: IV.5.2 IV.5.3;
- - Others: Action Lines V.1.4 (CPA4), V.1.5 (CPA5), V.1.7 (CPA7), V.1.8 (CPA8), VI.2.1 (FET P1), VII.1.2 (RN2), VII.1.3 (RN3), VII.1.4 (RN4).

- Part 1b: Proposals for take-up actions and support measures. Proposals to these areas must also be submitted before a fixed deadline of 10 May 2000.
- - Key Action I: Action Line I.1.4;
- - Key Action II: Action Line II.1.6;
- - Key Action III: Action Line III.5.1.
- - Other Action Lines V.1.5 (CPA5), V.1.7 (CPA7), V.1.8 (CPA8).

- Part 2a: Proposals for RTD, demonstration, and combined RTD/demonstration projects. Proposals to these areas must be submitted according to a continuous submission scheme.
- - Action Line VI.1.1 FET O

Proposals can be submitted at any time until 5pm (CET) 15 September 2000, by which time this Action Line is expected to be further extended.

-Part 2b: Proposals for support measures. Proposals to these areas must also be submitted according to a continuous submission scheme.
- - Action Lines VIII.1.1 VIII,1.2 VIII.1.3 VIII.1.4 VIII.1.5 VIII.1.6
These Action Lines only relate to those given in the IST 2000 Work Programme. Action Lines given in the IST1999 Work Programme are no longer valid.

Proposals can be submitted at any time until 15 June 2000.
