Training in multimedia and information technology
A new European Commission-funded pilot project for training specialists to meet the needs of the Information Society will kick-off in October with an academic conference entitled 'Information and education, cement of nations'. Taking place in Marseille, France, on 12 and 13 October, the event will be presided over by Director-General of the Information Society, Robert Verrue. The project being launched is FORM-AMI, part of the INFO 2000 programme, which also organises a post masters degree in information technology and multimedia. The degree course is open to European students or adults with some professional experience. Within the framework of the course, students will produce CD-ROMs or online products of the topics of information and telecommunication, technology and the information market, geographical information systems, security and padagogy. Organisers are currently calling for papers for the colloquium, and the deadline for submitting abstracts is 30 June 2000.
