Young scientists in the Newly independent states (NIS) of the former Soviet Union can look forward to new opportunities under a new INTAS scheme. The new young scientist project opens up with a budget of 1 million euro and a call for fellowship applications that is open until August 31 with any scientist under the age of 35 eligible to apply. The scheme is divided into four divisions of newly qualified postdoctoral, experienced postdoctoral, PhD and project-linked. The conditions of the fellowships carry from 3,500 euro and 12 months for a project-linked fellowship to up to two years and 6,000 euro for an experienced postdoctoral fellowship. Applications are also welcomed from scientists not taking part in other INTAS projects. Training is compulsory for all except the project-linked fellowships.
