2nd reincarnation for LIFE programme
The European Parliament has given its approval on the third round of the European Community's multiannual programme for the environment, LIFE, to go ahead once the Council has confirmed its position by co-decision procedure. The regulation will now be able to enter into force this summer, enabling projects to win funding from LIFE III in the second half of this year. Some 640 million euro is now available for the period 2000 to 2004 to fund LIFE III projects. The LIFE programme has run since 1992 and is split into three components, focused on the environment, nature and third countries.
