A digital elevation model (DEM) of Rwanda and the Balkans
A project aimed at providing ready-to-use information to assist officials involved in the prevention, emergency, and rehabilitation of humanitarian crises is being set up by the space applications unit of the Joint Research Centre. The JRC is now calling for tenders for Information derived from data collected by satellite technologies together with data collected via traditional means and managed within a geographic information system (GIS). This call is divided into the following two lots which can be bid for together or separately: - lot one: a service is required to create a digital elevation model (DEM) of Rwanda (a digital representation of the Rwanda terrain over a 2-dimensional surface). The contractor is required to purchase appropriate data and to process this data to provide a DEM to the stated standard. The concerned area lies between 28,5 degrees and 31 degrees East, and 1 degree and 3 degrees South. The developed product must have horizontal spacing of 25 m with an elevation accuracy of 10 m; - lot two: a service is required to create a digital elevation model (DEM) of the Balkans. The contractor is required to purchase appropriate data and to process these data to provide a DEM to the stated standard. The area concerns Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro and two options: - the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; - southern Serbia (south of a line connecting point 19,5 degrees East - 44 degrees North, and point 23 degrees East - 43,25 degrees North). The developed product must have horizontal spacing of 25 m with an elevation accuracy of 10 m.
