Heavy metal vehicles
The Environment Directorate-General requires a study on heavy metals in vehicles in the context of the EC waste management policy. A invitation to tender has been issued for the following: - an analysis of the applications listed in Annex II of the draft directive on end of life vehicles; - determination of the quantities of heavy metals contained in the applications listed in Annex II; - investigation, from a technical point of view, whether alternative substances can be used; - assessment of the technical implications, as well as the cost of replacing the substances in question with a substitute. Investigation about the possibilities of segregation from the vehicle wreck before shredding, as well as the technical possibilities of recycling. For further information please contact (quoting ref.
