Models and tools to assess the environmental impact of agricultural policies
The Environment Directorate-General is calling for tenders for the development and testing of computer-based models for assessing the impact of agricultural polices on the environment, with a focus on air and water issues. The study will include five key aspects: - to develop a conceptual framework for analysing the relationship between agriculture and the environment; - to develop a computer-based model or models that can be used for the ex-ante and ex-post assessment and quantification of the impact of changes in agricultural policies in the environment; - to develop the database and collect the relevant information to ensure the model(s) developed is/are built, tested, calibrated and validated; - to develop a user-friendly interface and adequate facilities for displaying the model(s) output; and, - using the model(s), to compare selected agricultural market and policy scenarios and quantify their impact in the environment.
