To celebrate the forthcoming global day of social and scientific integration on November 10, scientists, researchers and administrators have been invited to apply for a number of grants offered under a programme coordinated by the international organisation for development and the social integration of the individual (OIBISI), based in Madrid, Spain. The grants are for multilingual distance learning courses in a variety of subjects, including the following: - sustainability and protection of the environment; - management and policy in research and development; - prevention of accidents at work; - public health. The courses will be run by a variety of international schools specialised in the above areas. The budget dedicated to these schemes will be around 30 million euro. All interested parties must register before 3 November to qualify. Applicants of any country can apply. The chief coordinator of the programme, Mr Enrique Marocchi Rodriguez, explained its objectives: 'The programme aims to help all of those who can help in providing a better quality of life or providing sustainability. This is a small step, but an important one and we hope that it will give the impetus to researchers.'
