Following a report from the committee of senior labour inspectors, the European Commission intends to co-fund projects relating to health and safety inspection at work in a number of selected areas. The restricted call for proposals for subsidies are in the following areas: - follow up of the recommendations of the car safety campaign in Member States - European labour inspectors's meeting on asbestos - exchange of inspectors between Member State administrations - assessment of national inspection systems - exchange of experiences and good practice in sectors with specific risks - identification and analysis of practical problems, especially cross-border problems which arise in connection with monitoring and supervision of occupational health and safety legislation - exchange of experience between inspectorates of Member States and applicant countries, especially with a view to assessing health and safety inspection systems in applicant countries in order to identify changes which need to be made and to set priorities for action and technical assistance prior to accession. Projects must be submitted solely by the competent inspection authorities of the Member States. The total budget for this call for proposals is 700,000 euro.
