Study on waste containing genetically-modified micro-organisms
The European Commission is calling for tenders for a study on waste containing genetically modified micro-organisms (GMMs). The study should aim to provide the Commission with technical information on the treatment, recovery and disposal of waste arising from work with genetically modified micro-organisms conducted under contained use conditions, The study should examine current practice and generate information with regards to the inactivation and disposal of waste and methodology employed for work at different containment levels. Current practices for monitoring and validating the effectiveness of inactivation techniques of waste prior to disposal should also be examined, including technical and scientific guidance on methodology to obtain specific/minimum levels of inactivation for different sources of waste.
