Ariane lifts off
The 135th Ariane launch successfully took place in Kourou, French Guiana on 15 November at 10:07pm (or 16 November at 01:07am GMT). The Ariane 507 launcher placed into transfer orbit the PAS-1R telecommunications satellite, three smaller satellites, the world's first radio amateur satellite and two technological microsatellites. The next Ariane 4 launch is scheduled to take place on 20 November 2000. It will carry the telecommunications satellite Anik F1 for Canadian operator Telesat.
