Call focuses on developing countries' forests and environment
The European Commission has published a call for proposals for the tropical forests and other forests in developing countries programme and the Environment in developing countries programme. These two programmes fund innovative actions in developing countries. Details of the priorities for project proposals are listed in section1.2 of the guidelines for applicants, which are available from the address below. Some 44 million euro is available to fund projects under this call for proposals: 35 million euro will be available from the programme for tropical forests and other forests in developing countries and a further 9 million euro from the programme supporting the environment in developing countries. Projects should run for a duration of 18 to 60 months, with each eligible for a minimum grant of 500,000 euro. The maximum proportion of project costs to be covered by Community funding under both programmes will be 80 per cent. Applicants must be: - non-profit making; intergovernmental organisations; - national, regional or local authorities, public sector operators, organisations from the private sector and civil society, associations representing local people (in particular forest dependent people or indigenous peoples); - be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the project, not acting as an intermediary.
