Preliminary agenda of Research council published
A preliminary eight point draft agenda for the forthcoming Research council taking place under the Swedish Presidency has been published. It outlines the main focus of meeting to take place in Strasbourg on 26 June. The elements of the agenda are as follows 1. Sixth Framework programme for research and technological development - orientation debate 2. Rule for the participation of undertakings, research centres and universities - presentation/debate 3. European Research Area: mapping of excellence science and society mobility and human resources infrastructures regional and international dimensions of R&D benchmarking - presentation and progress report by the Commission/debate and possible conclusions 4. (possible) International S/T (science/technology) cooperation - Brazil: conclusion of S/T agreement - Euratom/USA: conclusion of agreement in the area of fusion - Ukraine: mandate to negotiate an S/T agreement - India: mandate to negotiate an S/T agreement - Malta: conclusion of association agreement - Chile: mandate to negotiate an S/T agreement 5. (possible) JRC (Joint Research Centre) - presentation of the Commission's communication Council conclusions/orientation debate 6. (possible) Future of fusion/nuclear research and ITER -orientation debate/Council conclusions 7. Women in science - progress report 8. (possible) European space strategy - progress report
