Commission promises action on recognition of diplomas
The European Parliament approved a conciliation agreement reached with the Council on the mutual recognition of professional qualifications on 1 February. The agreement includes a Commission declaration that it will identify problems in the recognition of diplomas obtained outside the EU Member States and propose appropriate solutions. Primarily however, the agreement provides for Member States to choose the means as to how continuing training ensures that doctors keep up with progress in medicine after the completion of their studies.
