Innovation on the agenda for Industry and Energy ministerial talks
Ministers at the next meeting of Europe's energy and industry Council in Brussels on 14 and 15 May will discuss the follow-up to the Lisbon process and the Stockholm European council. Special emphasis will be given to the Commission's communication on helping small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to 'Go digital' and on the Council conclusions on entrepreneurship, information and communication technologies (ICT) and e-business as factors in competitiveness'. Other items on the agenda that relate to research, development and innovation policy include: the integration of sustainable development into enterprise policy; the Council conclusions on a strategy for integration of sustainable development into enterprise policy; a Commission communication on the expiry of the ECSC treaty; a strategy for integrating environmental aspects and sustainable development into enterprise policy; and enhancing Euro-Mediterranean cooperation on transport and energy.
