Mapping excellence in Europe''s research and technological development
The European Commission's Research DG has given prior notification of a call for tenders for the mapping of excellence in research and technological development in Europe. Mapping excellence in research and technological development at a European level aims at providing useful intelligence allowing greater advantage to be taken of the potential of excellent competencies across Europe. The Commission envisages concluding several contracts to map excellence in research and technological development in Europe, in a limited number of fields in the following areas: - life sciences; - nanotechnologies; - economics. It is also intended that an additional contract will be concluded to ensure the presentation and the dissemination of the results. The result of this mapping exercise should be the identification of an adequate number of entities in each of the selected fields. The approach adopted is a modulated indicators-based approach, combining bibliometric studies and peer review. The estimated value of each contract for the mapping (1 per area) is 100,000 euro, and the estimated value of the additional contract for the presentation and dissemination of the results is 200,000 euro.
