Internet access costs via a standard telephone line, ADSL and cable modem
The European Commission is calling for tenders for a study on Internet access costs via a standard telephone line, ADSL and cable modem. The eEurope 2002 action plan, launched at the Feira European Council in June 2000 set out a detailed programme covering 64 actions to accelerate development of the information society in Europe. To monitor these developments the Commission, in cooperation with the Council, has agreed on a list of indicators to benchmark eEurope. The objective of this study is to obtain estimates for the indicator on Internet access costs via a standard telephone line, ADSL, and cable modems in the 15 Member States, Norway and Iceland.
