Commission searching for certified reference materials officer for JRC institute
The European Commission is looking to recruit a principal scientific officer to take charge of certified reference materials (CRM) at the institute for reference materials and measurements (IRMM) in Geel, Belgium. The successful candidate will be responsible for the guidance and follow-up of CRM certification campaigns and for the quality assessment and acceptance of new CRMs, particularly in the area of life sciences. Applicants must be analytical chemists with a university degree and a minimum of 15 years professional experience, of which seven must be in life sciences. Candidates are also required to have a good knowledge of preparatory and analytical techniques in the area of life sciences (food safety, biotechnology, clinical chemistry) and experience of dealing with problems relating to metrological uncertainty calculation and CRM stability problems. Experience in the certification of reference materials and proven management experience is also required. Applicants must be nationals of an EU member state and have been born after 14.09.1951. A thorough knowledge of one official EU language and satisfactory knowledge of a second of these languages is required. The position will be located at the IRMM in Geel and in any place of work of the European Commission.
