Altran Foundation announces 'technology for developing countries' theme for 2002 EU prize
The Altran Innovation Foundation has announced a theme of 'technology for developing countries' for its 2002 European science prize. The foundation, which awards prizes each year around a specific theme for European technology innovation, will award one year of free technological consultation (worth one million euro) to the winner. This year's theme could include projects on energy, education, water access, food, combating urban and rural pollution, transport and communications in developing countries. All projects submitted should, however, be suitable for sustainable use. Potential candidates, which should come from France or one of the 12 countries where Altran is based, can be presented individually or as a group. Candidates should be able to demonstrate that their project is innovative, transferable, practical and both technically and economically feasible.
