CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, is providing a new service dedicated to national and European-funded research in Italy. Developed jointly by CORDIS and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, the service provides a window to Italian innovation-related policies, infrastructures, services and activities. The service introduces the Italian research system, including 65 universities, over 70 public research institutions, State and local laboratories and other organisations. It also provides insights on new regulatory framework the 'national research plan.' Users can locate a number of national and local organisations as well as links to key contacts and relevant official bodies. In addition, the site offers in-depth coverage of Italy's participation in European projects, including a selection of more than 200 exploitable results. Detailed information is available on Italian participation in current and former programmes as well as an overview of Italian positions in current discussions on the future of European research. Key events and news are available to help users keep track of both national and European activities. The site will prove useful for local stakeholders and innovation actors seeking Italian technology information and counterparts. The service is part of a gateway project which aims to raise awareness of and facilitate access to R&D information in each Member State as well as to support the completion of the European Research Area (ERA).
