French science fête opens up to Europe
The head of the European Research council, François de Donnea, will open the 10th 'Fête de la Science' in Paris on 15 October. The event is an attempt to increase public knowledge of science and technology and will compromise a variety of exhibitions, events and visits arranged throughout the week. Alongside French Research minister, Roger-Gérard Schwartzenberg, Mr de Donnea will open the event at the Palais de la découverte in Paris. The two will then visit the 'European science village' exhibition housed at the Palais, which will have stand representing various European countries, as well as the Brussels capital region of which Mr de Donnea is president. The event is a precursor (although not related to) the forthcoming European science week, which takes place from 5 to 11 November.
