Commission announces call for tenders for Internet audience measurement
The Information Society Directorate-General of the European Commission has announced a restricted call for tenders for an Internet audience measurement service (Internet users and usage) by accelerated procedure. The eEurope 2002 action plan was launched at the Feira European Council in June 2000. It sets out a detailed programme covering 64 actions to accelerate the development of the information society in Europe. To monitor these developments, the Commission in cooperation with the Council has agreed a list of indicators to benchmark eEurope. The Internet audience measurement service should cover the indicator on frequency of use, social data of the users, and type of use for at least 90 per cent of the population as well as at least 90 per cent of the Internet population of the EU (plus, if possible, Norway, Iceland and the United States). This call for tenders invites tenders from companies which currently provide an Internet audience measurement service. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General Information Society Infso-1 Att: Ms Nina Obermaier BU 24 1/8 Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 200 B-1049 Brussels Tel: +32-2-295 4044 Fax +32-2-296 1780
