The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing a 27.85 million euro loan to Indonesia to promote investment in industry, energy, telecommunications, private infrastructure and tourism. The loan will go to Rabobank International Indonesia, owned 96 per cent by the Rabobank group, the second largest banking group in the Netherlands. The loan is targeted to support EU companies and investments containing EU interest. The loan will also support the long term development of the Indonesian economy. The EIB may lend up to 2.48 billion euro during 2000 to 2006 to support capital investment projects implemented by subsidiaries of EU companies or joint ventures between EU and Asian or Latin American firms, or investment aimed at environmental improvements or furthering regional integration.
