Commission invites grant applications to attend FP6 launch event
The European Commission has invited people from the EU's Central and East European (CEE) candidate countries to apply for grants for travel costs to attend the launch event for the Sixth Framework programme (FP6) in Brussels on 11 to 13 November. The invitation to submit expressions of interest aims to facilitate the attendance of participants from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Grants may be awarded to National contact points (NCPs), European liaison officers, those in charge of research and technological development (RTD) programmes in recognised public bodies and all those involved in the development of scientific and technological cooperation with the Union. Selection criteria will include nationality, scientific skills, employer and position, and personal involvement in the development of scientific cooperation with the EC in one of the following areas: - Genomics and biotechnology for health - Information Society technologies - Nanotechnologies, intelligent materials and new production processes - Aeronautics and space - Food safety and health risks - Sustainable development (including energy systems) - Citizens and governance in an open European knowledge-based society Selection will take place at the end of July and selected candidates will then be contacted in mid-September.
