CORDIS welcomes redesigned PAXIS site
CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, is hosting an improved interface for the pilot action of excellence on innovative start-ups (PAXIS). The site reflects the new priorities of the European Commission pilot initiative launched in 1999. It offers a description of the initiative's raison d'être, profiles of the most innovative regions and supported thematic activities, as well as general information on projects, events and an introduction for the media. Under the Sixth Framework Programme, PAXIS will continue promoting ideas and services for the creation of innovative companies. To this end, the web service will provide timely coverage of new projects within the five thematic networks, and identify ideal environments for start-ups and novel strategies to encourage innovative firms. CORDIS will soon host a redesigned intranet service to facilitate active exchanges of experiences between the members of the 22 "regions of excellence". The improved interface aims to contribute to the European research and innovation area, building on strong regional cooperation, regular benchmarking exercises and transfer of innovative best practices.
