EU project creates safe educational website for children
A project supported by the European Commission's Information Society DG has led to the development of a multilingual website for children. The site guides children to safe and high quality content on the Internet while teaching Internet skills. The Zap website is aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 14, and in addition to offering information on netiquette and safe surfing, helps children to learn more about school-related topics in a enjoyable way. The European collaborative environment (EUNCLE) project is funded under the safer Internet action plan, and much of the content provided through Zap comes from other projects in this domain. EUNCLE aims to research, develop and maintain a multilingual international collaborative environment for young people, acceptable to different national education philosophies and approaches to Internet safety.
