Fifth research programme on industrial hygiene in mines: Summary report
The Commission of the European Communities has recently published a summary report of the fifth research programme on industrial hygiene in mines (1983-1987). The report discusses dust control (the central objective of the fifth programme), dust measurement and determination of dust properties, pneumoconiosis and determination of environmental factors, noise and vibration. The programme has yielded a substantial body of results which can be expected to make a major contribution to improving the health of mine workers in the Community countries. A review of the research carried out shows the considerable benefits resulting from cooperation between research establishments in planning and carrying out the projects.
