CORDIS offers individual services on research in each candidate country
CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, has launched a redesigned gateway offering access to new services providing research information on each of the 13 candidate countries. The gateway, available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, aims to raise awareness of candidate countries' involvement in European research programmes, and should lead to better identification of key players and national scientific strengths, thus facilitating collaboration under the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). It provides key links to news, events, local assistance networks and publications in the different countries as well as links to services supporting partnerships. In addition, the 13 new dedicated services (one for each candidate country) offer quick access to news coverage, as well as key figures on national participation in previous European programmes, and examples of exploitable research results. Direct links to the projects enable users to review over 3,800 projects involving organisations from the candidate countries. Each service will soon be updated with even more information on national policies, infrastructures, research activities and stakeholders. The new gateway and individual services are designed to reflect the current National Services on CORDIS. The twin services strongly support the completion of the European Research Area, fully involving the candidate countries.
