CORDIS launches Irish research and innovation Council Presidency service
CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, is offering a new window for research and innovation activities led by the Irish Presidency (January to June 2004). Developed jointly by CORDIS and the Irish Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the service offers in-depth coverage of the latest news, including timely information on the two formal Competitiveness Councils to be held during the next six months. There is also a focus on the Irish Presidency's research and innovation priorities, such as advancing the European Research Area (ERA), promoting basic research and facilitating progress in the area of research infrastructures. An extensive events section highlights the most important conferences and meetings that will take place during the Irish Presidency. In the area of research and innovation, these include food quality and safety, marine research, and an informal ministerial conference on 'routes to innovation for a competitive Europe'. There is a spotlight on successful and innovative Irish companies, as well as a section on research management and Irish investment in science and technology. Users can also access a clickable map, featuring details on the Innovation Relay Centre (IRC) network's activities in Ireland. An overview of the ERA initiative is presented and links to further information on Irish involvement in the Sixth Framework Programme are provided. Finally, there is an extensive directory of innovation related public bodies and research institutes available on the service.
