The European Commission, DG XII, has published revised dates for forthcoming calls for proposals for the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of biomedicine and health (BIOMED II).

These calls are as follows:

- Call for proposals of 15 March 1996 (closing date: 17 June 1996) covering the areas of:
. Pharmaceutical research (Area 1);
. Biomedical technology and engineering (Area 2);
. Brain research (Area 3);
. Human genome (Area 5);
. AIDS and other infectious diseases (Area 4.2);
. Demonstration projects;

- Call for proposals of 17 September 1996 (closing date: 17 December 1996) covering the areas of:
. Diseases with an important socio-economic impact (cancer, cardio-vascular diseases, ageing, work-related illnesses, rare diseases) (Area 4);
. Public health (Area 6);
. Biomedical ethics (Area 7);
. Ethical, legal and social aspects (ELSA);

- Open call for proposals, with closing date of 1 April 1996, for grants in the areas of:
. Pharmaceutical research;
. Biomedical technology and engineering;
. Brain research;
. Human genome research;

- Open call for proposals, with closing date of 31 December 1996, for grants in the areas of:
. Diseases with a major socio-economic impact;
. Public health;
. Biomedical ethics.
