General information and awareness actions in the environmental field
The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for general information and awareness actions on environmental problems and their effects on public health. The activities to be financed under this invitation to tender fall within the context of the fifth Community programme of policy and action in relation to the environment and sustainable development (1993-2000) (OJ No C 138 of 17.5.1993 p. 1). The envisaged actions must take account of the following: - Environmental integration within the other sectoral policies; - Development of new instruments with a view to improving the state of the environment; - The application and implementation of Community environmental legislation; - The role of the European Union in environmental matters at an international level. In particular, the following sectors are suggested: - Lasting agriculture; - Air quality and health; - Fiscal instruments and employment; - Biodiversity and taking account of nature by land management social groups; - Waste. Priority will be given to projects with transnational geographical cover. For more detailed information on the submission of requests for financing, please consult the original tender documents.
