New Brussels office for EU-Japanese industrial cooperation
The EU-Japanese Industrial Cooperation Centre, set up in 1987 in Tokyo, opened a new office in Brussels on 14 June 1996. The new office will support and improve the management of the Centre's activities, including training and exchange schemes and an information service for European and Japanese companies. In addition, the Centre will set up an "Alumni Association" which will provide a network to foster contacts between European and Japanese companies, universities and training centres in order to improve synergies and identify future needs. The Brussels office will also work to improve the dissemination of the results of EU-Japanese industrial cooperation programmes relating to consumer electronics and car parts, and to support the implementation of new initiatives, such as a programme on motorcycles.
