Telematics Applications - Information Engineering sector
The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an information pack outlining projects supported in the Information Engineering sector of the specific RTD programme in the field of Telematics Applications. The Information Engineering sector is one of three horizontal sectors in the Telematics Applications programme which contribute to a wide range of vertical sectors such as education and training, administrations and environment. Information Engineering aims to permit easier and more selective access to, and better usability of, electronic information in all its forms through the application of telematics-based methods and systems. The information pack contains details of nine pilot projects which are now in their main phase, and ten preliminary phase pilot projects (PPPs) which are kinds of advanced feasibility studies. In addition, information on four support projects and one specific action for SMEs are included in the information pack. These projects were selected following the call launched in March 1995 and are mostly concerned with electronic publishing or multimedia.
