European protocol on dosimetry in mammography
The European Commission, DG XII, has published the European protocol on dosimetry in mammography, developed following trials of European guidelines for quality assurance in mammography screening. The protocol provides dosimetric methods which can serve to increase the awareness of dose variations due to differences in technique and/or equipment and facilitate the comparability of dose values reported according to national protocols. The protocol includes three dosimetric approaches reflecting the different methods in existence: - Measurement on patients; - Measurements with a standard phantom; - Determination of average glandular dose.
