Implementing statistical data
Data mining includes the process of selecting, exploring and modelling of large databases for discovering models and patterns. Since available data in the information society is becoming increasingly available, sound tools are needed to model and analyse it accordingly. The best way to educe this knowledge from data is through data mining and statistical methods. This can be applied in various fields such as statistics, computer science, machine learning, economics, marketing and finance. The book that has been put together has described the methods as either of a computational or a statistical type. Since no complex models and tools were employed, the book is user-friendly for professionals as well as students. In fact, the second part of the book is comprised of nine case studies taken from the writer's actual work experience, illustrating how the methods can be implemented for actual problems. Furthermore, it is supported by a website featuring data sets, software and additional material, including an extensive bibliography and pointers to assist with reading of the text.
