ECU 31 million for Syria under MEDA programme
The European Commission has approved three projects in Syria which will receive a total of ECU 31 million under the MEDA technical assistance programme for the Mediterranean partner countries. The three projects are as follows: - Support for strengthening the Syrian Telecom establishment, in particular to improve training and facilities, to respond to rapid growth and technological advances: ECU 10 million; - Development of the tourism sector, by promoting and protecting Syrian heritage: ECU 3 million; - Modernization of municipal administrations in Syria's four largest cities, to manage growth in populations: ECU 18 million.
