Yeast Genome Directory
A Directory of the full Yeast Genome, which was decoded as a result of Community-sponsored research over the years 1989 to 1996, has recently been published, with Commission support, as a supplement to "Nature" magazine. The aim of publishing the Directory is to bring the knowledge of the Yeast Genome to wider attention in the scientific community. Despite the significance of the decoding of a complete genome on the scale of yeast, and the availability of the knowledge for a full year, the sequence has not attracted the attention it deserves. The Directory contains an overview of the full genomic sequence of brewer's yeast (Sacharomyces cerevisiae), as well as individual papers on each of the chromosomes which have not previously been described.
