Strategic environmental assessments for trans-European transport networks
The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for a consultant to assist in the development of methods for the strategic environmental assessment of the trans-European transport network. Decision No 1692/96/EC of 23 July 1996 on Community guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport network foresees that the Commission should develop methods for the strategic environmental assessment of the TEN. The results of this work should be taken into account in the five-yearly reports which the Commission is to submit to the Council and Parliament on the revision of the TEN guidelines. The first such report should be produced before July 1999. The Commission services have set up a working group to carry out the necessary work to fulfil this mandate and now require a consultant to assist in carrying out the work programme related to the report. Offers should provide for 350 working days between November 1997 and June 1999.
