Data gathering and study projects within the framework of the Common Fisheries Policy
The European Commission, DG XIV, has published a call for proposals for data-gathering and study projects within the framework of the Common Fisheries Policy. Scientific research in support of the Common Fisheries Policy is subsidized under the Community's FAIR programme (agriculture and fisheries). This call for proposals covers measures upstream of fisheries research, to provide the basic data without which research projects are impossible, and downstream (the application of research findings, transmission of findings to the users, monitoring the CFP). An appropriation of ECU 13.5 million has been set aside for this measure in the Commission's 1997 budget. Projects will be selected on the basis of technical criteria, relevance to the CFP, and the experience and qualifications of the authors. The maximum duration for a project is three years. Detailed information on arrangements for applying will be found attached to the application form, the use of which is mandatory.
