Collection and analysis of data on transport demand of certain freight transport modes
The European Commission, DG VII, has published an invitation to tender for the establishment of a database on transport demand of certain freight transport modes in Europe. The project to be commissioned will establish a database (time series on transport performance (tkm) by mode and country) of freight transport modes which are of European relevance but for which availability, quality and comparability of data is not sufficient on a European level (examples are short-sea shipping, combined transport, road transport). This includes the collection of available statistical data, the calculation of data and the estimation of missing data in order to provide coherent time series which are comparable between modes and countries. The aim is to obtain coherent information on the development of European freight transport. The information is required for various transport policy purposes.
