Survey of European "leak-before-break" procedures and requirements related to the structural integrity of nuclear power plant components
The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender relating to a survey of European "leak-before-break" procedures and requirements related to the structural integrity of nuclear power plant components. The objectives of the study are: - To identify EU and RF national procedures and practices for LBB assessments of nuclear components; - To compare national procedures and practices, establish equivalencies and identify differences; - To assess the potential for achieving greater harmonization and make recommendations to enable greater convergence of LBB procedures and practices. The work programmed shall consist of four phases: - Survey of national LBB procedures and practices in EU countries and the Russian Federation (RF); - Literature review of LBB procedures in the rest of the world; - Identify equivalencies and differences; - Assess the potential for harmonization. The study should be completed within 24 months of the signature of the contract. Tenderers must have demonstrable background in structural integrity analysis of NPP components, codes and standards applicable, and safety assessments.
