Commission supports industrial reconstruction in Navarra
The Spanish region of Navarra will be receiving funding of ECU 25.4 million from the European Commission for a Structural Funds programme covering the period 1997-1999. The Community aid is being allocated under Objective 2 of the Structural Funds (regeneration of industrial zones in decline). The aid will go primarily to actions aimed at promoting employment, competitiveness and the internationalization of regional economic activity. The protection of the environment and support for research, technology and innovation are also priorities of the programme. In this context, some ECU 5.2 million in Community funding will be allocated to support for research, technology and innovation.
