The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender concerning the completion of a study on the reuse of primary packaging.

The aim of this study, which is to cover the 15 Member States of the European Union, is to:

- Identify types and quantities (absolute and relative figures) of reusable primary packaging;
- Identify existing reuse schemes for primary packaging;
- Analyse the existing reusable packaging;
- Assess the link between trade within the Internal Market and reusable packaging;
- Assess costs and constraints of expanding reuse systems;
- Propose practical solutions for promoting reuse of primary packaging.

The study must be completed within nine months from the date of signature of the contract.
