Accessibility of people with reduced mobility to passenger transport services
The European Commission, DG III, has published an invitation to tender for the completion of a study on the accessibility of people with reduced mobility to scheduled inter-urban passenger transport services. The study should examine possible solutions to assure the accessibility by people with reduced mobility to buses intended for scheduled inter-urban services, and identify relevant modifications to the proposed EU Directive relating to special provisions for vehicles used for the carriage of passengers, comprising more than eight seats in addition to the driver's seat. The detailed final report should be sent to the Commission no later than three months following the signature of the contract. It must be accompanied by the results of the research carried out and recommendations to enhance the accessibility by people with reduced mobility to buses intended for scheduled inter-urban services.
