Hungarian participation in MEDIA II programme
The European Commission has published a draft Council Decision concerning the participation of Hungary in the MEDIA II programme for activities within the framework of a Community audiovisual policy. As part of the pre-accession process for the applicant states in Central and Eastern Europe, a number of Community programmes in fields such as culture, education and training, and research, will be opened up to full participation by entities from these countries. The current proposal concerns the MEDIA II programme in the audiovisual field. Once adopted the Decision would allow Hungarian entities to participate in the MEDIA II programme on the same terms and conditions as Community entities. Hungary will pay into the programme's budget an annual contribution of around ECU 650,000 in the years 1998, 1999 and 2000. Of this, just under 50% will come from funds allocated to Hungarian programmes under the PHARE programme.
