A new redesigned COST-Transport Home Page has been launched on the CORDIS World Wide Web server, providing improved access to a wealth of information on this important research sector. COST-Transport is one of 17 domains of the COST programme for European cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research, coordinated by DG XII of the European Commission. The Transport area lends itself particularly well to the COST framework, both because it combines aspects from a number of disciplines, and because of the need for harmonization at European level. Liaison with the Transport Ministries and Administrations in the various countries is a key element of these COST Actions. The COST-Transport Secretariat is located within the Directorate General for Transport of the European Commission, facilitating close cooperation with EU transport research activities. COST Transport Actions are authorized and supervised by the COST Technical Committee on Transport which, in turn, reports to the COST Committee of Senior Officials. Both of these decision-making bodies comprise representatives of the national governments of the COST countries. The new COST-Transport Home Page allows easy access to a wide range of information on COST-Transport activities, including key information on the 22 COST-Transport Actions already completed, currently underway or in preparation. Where available, final and interim reports produced by the Actions, as well as other related publications, may be downloaded from the Home Page. A "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) section provides a general explanation of how COST works, its structure, and information on how to participate. In addition, users can access information on forthcoming events, key publications and contact details for each of the members of the COST Technical Committee on Transport.
