MARCOM'98, the third European workshop on maritime information technology and multimedia services, will be held in Brest, France, on 13 and 14 October 1998. It will be organised within the framework of the European Information Exchange Services project (EIES) funded under the EU's Advanced Communications Technologies and Services programme (ACTS).
The aim of the workshop is to provide a focal point for the collection and discussion of the results of maritime projects on the use of advanced communication services conducted during the Fourth RTD Framework Programme. The potential for future maritime research projects under the Fifth RTD Framework Programme will also be discussed.
During the workshop, those involved in maritime projects will present the results of their initiatives and their plans for the future. The discussions will take place in two main streams, advanced communications and services for the maritime world, and market issues. The workshop is open to all those who are involved in this field, either in an industrial, commercial or academic capacity.
