Manufacturing and industrial technologies in the Fifth Framework Programme

An Information Day and brokerage event aimed at helping researchers prepare for the EU's upcoming Fifth RTD Framework Programme will be held in London, United Kingdom, on 4 and 5 November 1998. The event is organised by the Institute of European Trade and Technology (IETT), with support from the UK Department of Trade and Industry.
The first day will be devoted to presentations of the latest developments in the preparation of the Fifth Framework Programme. Speakers from both the European Commission and the UK will first give general presentations of the main features of the new Programme. In the afternoon session, separate workshops will focus in depth on the Competitive and Sustainable Growth and User-friendly Information Society programmes. A presentation will also be given of the special measures to encourage SMEs to participate which will be organised within the Innovation and Participation of SMEs programme.
The second day will be a brokerage event where participants will have the chance to meet with prospective partners and discuss their project ideas. A series of workshops and presentations will outline the principles behind partner-searching, while participants will have the opportunity to meet on a on-to-one basis throughout the day. Expressions of interest can be posted on the event Website, allowing participants to set up bilateral meetings in advance.
