This time I-ESA´07 is jointly promoted by two important projects: The Integrated Project ATHENA “Advanced Technologies for Interoperability of Heterogeneous Enterprise Networks and their Applications” (IST-507849, http://www.athena-ip.org(odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)) the European Network of Excellence INTEROP “Interoperability Research for Networked Enterprises Applications and Software” (IST- 508011, http://www.interop-noe.org(odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)) together with two of the results of both projects: the Enterprise Interoperability Centre - EIC (http://www.eic-community.org(odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)) and the V-Lab.
The objective of I-ESA´07 is to bring together the world's leading researchers and practitioners in the area of Enterprise Interoperability and e-Business and to enable a fruitful exchange of the participants’ vision, research and experiences.
Increasingly, enterprises are cooperating with other enterprises. During the last 20 years, the business world has undergone significant changes. Doing business globally has become critical for the survival of certain organisations and there are others that discover new opportunities by focusing their business on a local setting. Not only large organizations set up cooperation agreements with other enterprises, but SMEs are also combining forces to compete jointly in the market. Nowadays, an enterprise's competitiveness is largely determined by its ability to seamlessly interoperate with others.
I-ESA brings together the world’s leading researchers and practitioners in the area of enterprise interoperability, and it is a unique forum for the exchange of visions, ideas, research results and industrial experiences, dealing with a wealth of interoperability research subjects for business, enterprise applications and software.
The industry will find at I-ESA’07 an outstanding opportunity to exchange experience and problems on business interoperability in their daily operations. It will be a forum where to meet experts on interoperability that may help and support industry in developing and adopting better solutions. The industry can point the difficulties encountered in their business life and show the way taken to solve those problems while interrelate with other organizations to share experience. They will be able to meet interoperability experts and learn from them about emerging new solutions and even establish relationships for further research and development and problem solving.
Additionaly, I-ESA’07 will feature a high-quality pre-conference programme consisting of workshops, tutorials, the Spring School on Interoperability and a doctoral symposium. During the main conference, there will be an attractive exhibits programme and an additional brokerage event, including a hands-on "industrial use case challenge".
The Doctoral Symposium is an opportunity for students involved in the preparation of their PhD in any area of Interoperability for Enterprise Software and Applications to interactively discuss their research issues and ideas with senior researchers, and receive constructive feedback from members of the research community and other Doctoral Symposium participants. Besides scientific matters, students will also have the opportunity to seek advice on various aspects of completing their PhD and performing research as a young professional in groupware.
The International School on Interoperability intends to provide a contribution to academic and industrial researchers on latest findings in the field of interoperability for Enterprise Software and Applications, intending to cover identified knowledge needs in the technical and research areas of Concepts of Interoperability, Enterprise Modelling, Ontologies, Business Interoperability, Architectures and Platforms, and Product Data Management.
I-ESA´07 is certainly "the event" for those who want to know the future, the forefront of research and the industry expertise/viewpoint in this very important domain of "Enterprise Interoperability and e-Business".
